About Willner College Consulting

Hello! My name is Molly Willner, and I am excited to connect with students and families as they explore the landscape of college admissions.

I started my career in education as a middle and high school history teacher in NYC public schools. I loved the challenge of finding a creative way to both present historical content and then assess student understanding with a product or experience they might encounter in the “real world.” However, working to get to know the whole student, not just the academic piece, unlocked new conversations about interests, goals, and vulnerabilities. I began to question if teaching was the right fit for me within the world of education. I had the opportunity to shadow my school’s college and career counselor, and I immediately knew I had found my calling! I clearly saw a role where I could combine my passion for supporting students as they discover how their strengths and passions match different pathways with my skills from teaching to break down the complexities of the college admissions landscape. I loved my time working as a public school college and career counselor before a move to Montana in the summer of 2024 prompted some life changes!

A lifelong learner, I graduated from Colgate University in 2015 with both an undergraduate degree in history and Master of Arts in Teaching. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s of Education in Counseling Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. I also set aside time throughout the week to attend talks and webinars from a wide range of colleges and higher ed organizations.

Outside of work and school, I love to explore new hikes in Montana with my husband and dog, attempt to become a better skier, and try new recipes.

I look forward to working together!
